You can’t catch a cold or the flu from taking a bath. That’s an old wives tale. In fact, a warm bath usually soothes them and helps them to feel better. The warm water and moist air in the bathroom can help relieve congestion. Do you stop bathing when you have the flu? Don’t you feel better after a nice warm shower/bath?
Children get sick from germs and viruses; not the weather, outdoor temperatures or baths.
How long after the cold is gone are you planning to bathe her again???
A baby needs to be bathed. I would bathe my daughter.
I worked in the neonatal intensive care for over a year and we bathed the babies every couple of days. It should be ok to bathe her, just keep her warm and dry and dress her well so she doesn’t get chilled. And you can always call your pediatric clinic for advice.
I think it is fine to give her a bath. Make sure the water is lukewarm and give her the bath quickly.
The bath will not make her sick again.
If your baby had fever, then I would wait to give a bath – just it could "chill" her. If that is the case, then just wipe her down until she feels better.
Good luck!
Sometimes giving baby a bath will make them feel better. The steam from the warm water helps to loosen up phlegm, and a cool bath can get rid of a fever. A bath did not make your baby sick, a virus, germs, and sanitation made your baby sick. Bathe away chicka!
I’d do the bath thing… sometimes the MIL’s go on old wives tales…
you cant get sick from a bath.. only germs… make sure baby stays warm during the bath and put in warm clothes after…
everything will be fine…
all the best.
you don’t get a cold from being in water/being cold!
You should be bathing her everyday regardless of having a cold. A nice warm bath will make her feel a lot nicer and it will not make her sick! Don’t stick her in ice water or for too long, but there is nothing wrong with bathing a baby, sick or not!
Some babies enjoy baths, some do not. Some babies get chilled from baths.
If you are concerned just give her a sponge bath.
A bath will only help, not only will it most likely sooth her and comfort her if she has any conjestion left, but it will wash away the germs and bacteria. Not giving her a bath may actually make her sickness last longer. I give my daughter extra baths when she is sick and it seems to help her feel better and definatly helps her sleep better. Also use johnsons lavander bath wash, i think it does wonders!
If a bath comforts her and makes her feel better, go ahead and bathe her. If its a stressful experience for her, or she gets chilled coming out easily…you can wait. Either way, a bath won’t make her sick, I would just do whatever you feel she would be happiest with.
You can give her a cloth bath if you do not want to sick her in the sink or the tub. It will not hurt to give you little one a bath. Make sure the house is at a comfortable temp so she does not get cold.
